I'll be on the 2020 IEEE Security and Privacy Shadow Program Committee.
The Shadow PC functions much like an independent version of the Senior PC, including holding PC meetings and choosing its own program of papers.
My goal being on the committee is to mainly understand how the review cycle works and see how my peers identify good and bad papers.
Post meeting update:
The meeting was at Google's NYC campus. I thoroughly enjoyed being at NYC for the weekend. The folks I met were exceptional. Folks are definitely as ambitious and more. Makes you feel a little insecure at the moment, but mostly pushes you to do more.
I'd highly recommend this to another PhD student.
